Venango Trails Walking Paths
Construction has begun on the Venango Trails walking paths!  Coming this spring 2016.  The bottom trail on the map shows there will be a six foot wide gravel walking trail.  The trail head starts between 237 Venango Trail and 601 Chilliwack Lane.  The bottom trail will offer unique views of the neighborhood at the hill crest.  The trail will end at lot 368 on Chilliwack Lane.  No address has been assigned to this lot at the time of this article.
The top trail on the map shows there will be a six foot wide wood chip walking trail.  The trail will feature a log bridge and a bench and will follow alongside an established wooded area.  There are three entry points to the trail.  The first entry point is between Lot 417 on Chilliwack Lane and Lot 418 on Oneida Circle.  The second entry point will be off Penticon Lane in Venango Estates.  The third entry point will be on Ridge Drive.
From Ridge Drive, the trail will continue to another point of entry between 173 Seneca Place and 175 Seneca Place.  This section of trail will also be a six foot wide gravel path.  There will also be a bench along this trail.  Trail signage will be located at all points of entry.
The Venango Trails walking paths have been envisioned by the developers from the start. Â Of the 325 acres which make up the Venango Trail community, 88 acres of beautiful woods was donated to the Allegheny Land Trust for conservation. Â This enusures that this land stays protected from future development and open to the public to enjoy. Â The Venango Path is an ancient Native American trail named after the city of Venango. Â Once used for travels and trades, the path that runs through the Venango Trails community was once used by George Washington and Christopher Gist to deliver a message to the French in 1753. Â The path then became a military road connecting the French to a string of forts they had previously built. Â After the French and Indian War, the trail returned to being a path for travel and trade.
