Neighborhood of Freedom Woods

Freedom Woods townhomes for sale in Cranberry Twp is an established community with a mix of 131 single family homes and 144 townhomes. There are a total of 275 homes built mostly by the developer between 1987 and 1994. Lot sizes range from 0.176 acres to 0.462 acre home sites.

Originally, the land was purchased on October 20, 1986 by Raymond H. Smith Jr. for $450,000 and consisted of 69.612 acres or $6,464 per acre. On February 9, 1987, Freedom Woods was established by Mr. Smith.

After 88 townhomes were built, the developer sold the remaining 56 townhomes lots to a related entity, Image Homes, Inc. for $89,450 on July 16, 1990.

On July 26, 1990, the developer officially transferred the common grounds and open spaces to the homeowners association. All total, there were 22 parcels included in the transfer totaling 19.496 acres. Due to the use and transfer restrictions created by the Declaration of Covenants, the parcels cannot be used for any other purpose, therefore have no independent value.

Image Homes, Inc. filed for bankruptcy on February 3, 1993 and ended up selling 5 lots to Pitell Contracting, Inc for $78,000 on April 28, 1994 who was the highest bidder. The lots are now known as:

  • 210 Lafayette
  • 212 Lafayette
  • 433 Monmouth
  • 435 Monmouth
  • 443 Monmouth

The HOA has a low monthly fee and covers the common areas of the community. There is also a community playground for residents only. Social events are coordinated throughout the year such as egg hunts, deck crawls, Halloween parade, Santa visits, cookie exchange and food trucks to name a few.

Freedom Woods is connected to the Creekwood and Creekwood Commons neighborhoods at the intersection on Monmouth Drive and Woodridge Drive. Across the entrance to the community is the Parkwood Shops. A short distance away at the intersection of Powell Road and Freedom Road is the Freedom Village shopping plaza with a BP gas station, Freedom Market and other amenities.

Other neighboring communities include Orchard Park, Woodside and Glen at Woodside, Blue Ridge Estates, Darlington Woods, Cranberry West and Georgetown Square.

Children attend Seneca Valley School District. In particular, Haine Elementary School serves grades K-4 and Haine Middle School serves grades 5-6. Both schools are only 5 minutes away from Orchard Park. Children then move on to Ryan Gloyer Middle School for grades 7-8, Seneca Valley Intermediate for grades 9-10 and Seneca Valley High School for grades 11-12.

Located minutes from I-79, the PA Turnpike and Route 19 and is in close proximity to all the shopping, dining and parks Cranberry Township and Adams Township has to offer. Access the neighborhood from one main entry point off Freedom Road which leads to the intersection of Route 19 and Route 228. Another entry point is through the Creekwood neighborhood.
