History of Lake Latonka

Lake Latonka waterfront homes for sale is a private, lake-oriented community located along a former stream valley in a mostly rural part of Mercer County. The community, which was subdivided into 1,600 lots when first established, covers roughly 1,270 acres located in Coolspring and Jackson Townships. The community lies less than one mile west of Interstate 79 and approximately one hour from the Pittsburgh area.

Lake Latonka is a 300 acre lake which offers the opportunity to participate in several water sports including boating and fishing. The lake contains several varieties of fish and is stocked with selected fish annually. There are 16.5 miles of roads which are used for walking, jogging, and biking. The common area adjacent to the public beach offers a volleyball court, a paved basketball court, a bocce area, soccer nets, and a playground for younger children. Two community rooms are available for private parties and lake functions.

The Property Owners Association (POA) manages Lake Latonka and has a board of directors. There are also various committees of the community:

Dam Committee – promulgate the safety, repair, and efficient performance of the dam
Lake Community Comparison Committee – provides information about similar lake communities in Pennsylvania and the surrounding states
Lake Operations Committee – provides recommendations for increasing revenue and decreasing costs
Lake Water Quality Committee – provides information and advice to the Board regarding the water quality and condition of Lake Latonka.
Real Property Committee – provides information and recommendations to facilitate decision making and other actions taken with respect to all real estate, owned or purchasable by the LLPOA
Roads, Bridges, & Culverts Committee

There is no horsepower limit on Latonka. Maximum speed is 40mph. Private lake, no public boating.
